“To My Mother” is a book based on conversations with women who lost their mothers before becoming mothers themselves. Through typography, rhythm, and the physical experience of reading, the project explores motherhood in the absence of a mother and the relationship between grief, memory, and identity.
The project began from a personal realization: my mother became a mother without her own mother, and one day I may experience the same absence. Driven by my curiosity about people—their memories, emotions, and ways of understanding their lives—I turned to these women to listen to their stories and explore what we carry with us from one generation to the next.
